MUSINGS OF A SPRINGER SPANIEL
Springer Spaniel Photo
Let me introduce myself. My name is Dylan. I am a very handsome Springer Spaniel. I was a very happy dog. I had the family all to myself. Then SHE arrived.
Norwegian Forest Cat Photo She looked so innocent – just a bundle of fluff really – but appearances proved to be deceptive. My nose discovered immediately that this bundle of fluff came with sharp things on all four corners. Most of all – this bundle of fluff had ATTITUDE – girl power had arrived in our house in the form of “Billie” – a Norwegian Forest kitten.
First it was my food.

She’d eat hers and then push me out of the way to eat my food from my dish.

I have to hide any treats that come my way in creases in my bed, or she steals those too.

Whenever I went for a trot around the garden I returned to find “madam” stretched out in my bed as if she owned it and I was merely a part-time tenant.
As if all this isn’t enough, she even uses me as a taxi service to get from the kitchen into the living room. Many times I’ve trotted in only to realise that Billie is hitching a lift on my back. Now I may have big floppy ears and a slightly vague expression, but a seaside donkey I am most definitely NOT.
Having said all this, I suppose I have to admit that she is rather cute. She does occasionally give me a great facial. If I lie very still she will lick every inch of my face – that rough tongue is a wonderful exfoliator.
If you catch her in the right mood, she’ll also be game for a wrestling match. She’s surprisingly strong and has a great “signature” hold – the “Davy Crockett”. She hangs on to my head with her tail dangling down one side – a very effective grip. Norwegian Forest Cat Photo
She’s also warm and soft to cuddle into on a chilly night – although her fur does sometimes get up my nose and make me sneeze. I suppose she’s not so bad after all. Most people think I’m rough and smelly, but she seems to love and accept me just the way I am. I guess that must be the definition of a true friend.
